NOTICE: 06-03-25

?? Water Service Interruption on Mulberry St – Tonight at 11:00 PM

Attention residents:

Due to an overnight repair on a water line that supplies La Vernia's water, we will be temporarily shutting off water service on Mulberry Street tonight at 11:00 PM. We anticipate restoring service by approximately 2:00 AM. Unfortunately, this will affect all of the FM 775 corridor moving toward FM 1346.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our infrastructure. The installation of isolation valves is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability of our underground systems.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Water Restrictions

STAGE TWO WATER RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT
PSA: City of La Vernia Water supply is moving from stage 3 to stage 2 water restrictions. In response to current water conservation needs, we are implementing Stage 2 water restrictions. These measures are designed to ensure sustainable water usage while protecting our resources. Under Stage 2, residents are encouraged to limit outdoor watering to specific days based on their address. Additionally, the use of hoses and sprinklers is restricted to certain hours to minimize evaporation.
We ask everyone to be mindful of their water consumption, including limiting car washing and refilling pools. By working together, we can help conserve water and ensure it remains available for essential needs. Thank you for your cooperation in this important effort

Transportation

We are excited to announce that a new bus route is now available in Wilson County, in partnership with ART (Alamo Regional Transit). This new service aims to provide greater access to transportation for our community, making it easier to get around and connect to essential services.

For more details on the bus route schedule and stops, please visit the ART website or contact their customer service for assistance.

We hope this new transportation option will benefit our residents and provide more convenient travel throughout the area.

Disaster Declarations

Local Disaster Declaration: Fire Prevention & Drought Preparedness

As part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of our community, in La Vernia, Texas has officially declared a Local Disaster due to the escalating fire risk and prolonged drought conditions.

Fire Prevention Measures

With dry conditions and high temperatures increasing the risk of wildfires, we urge all residents to take extra precautions:

  • No Open Flames: Avoid outdoor burning, including bonfires, fire pits, and burning of debris.
  • Prepare Defensible Space: Clear brush and vegetation from around your home to create defensible space.
  • Fire-Resistant Materials: If possible, use fire-resistant materials for roofing and siding.
  • Emergency Kits: Ensure you have an emergency kit with essentials including water, medications, flashlights, and a battery-powered radio.

Drought Awareness

With severe drought conditions affecting our region, water conservation is crucial:

  • Limit Water Use: Reduce water consumption by shortening showers, using water-efficient appliances, and avoiding excessive lawn watering.
  • Report Water Waste: Be mindful of water waste in your neighborhood and report any excessive or unnecessary usage.
  • Drought-resistant Landscaping: Consider drought-resistant plants that require less water.

Community Resources & Support
Our local government is actively monitoring conditions and will provide updates as needed. For those in need of assistance, including fire preparedness resources or drought-related support, please reach out to [Contact Information/Website]. We are here to help.

Stay Safe, Stay Prepared
By following these guidelines, we can reduce the risk to life, property, and the environment. Your cooperation is vital during this critical time.
