City of La Vernia Public Works recognized as a: Superior Public Water System

La Vernia water system meets the TCEQ's Superior Public Water System recognition requirements. This award recognizes overall excellence in all aspects of operating a public water system. In order to be recognized, you must go above and beyond the minimum standards to protect the public health and ensuring reliable operation. 

What We Do
Public Works is another major and important department in the City of La Vernia. Public Works touches every single resident of the city, as well as visitors, on a daily basis. They are responsible for the general maintenance and operations of the physical aspects of the city.

Public Works provides a high level of service to many areas such as streets, drainage, parks, water, and sewer. In addition to providing these essential services, Public Works provides support to La Vernia's many events and other departments. In emergency events, Public Works responds when needed and serves a critical role when called. 

Public Works employees accept these challenges and perform their duties with the utmost professionalism possible, making this community a better place to live, work, and play.

This year’s theme, “People, Purpose, Presence,” highlights three cornerstone ideals that motivate public works professionals to serve in their communities every day. Meeting the needs of people is what gives public works its sense of purpose. Many times, public works professionals will never meet those whose lives have been impacted because when things are going right, no one knows that public works is there. Yet, with or without fanfare, public works is ever present, working in the background to advance quality of life for all.
